Lost - The Sideways Edition

I truly feel that people will never understand how much I LOVED this show (and even the finale) and part of it is Doc Jensen and his essays. He has a new one out that you can read here. I haven't read it yet because to be honest I don't have the time but I look forward to savoring every word. This is the last LOST gift and I am being tantric about it.

Wanted: Executive Control System

Bilingual people use their brains' executive control system more than others. I would normally say this is true but the article says: "There’s a system in your brain, the executive control system. It’s a general manager. Its job is to keep you focused on what is relevant, while ignoring distractions. It’s what makes it possible for you to hold two different things in your mind at one time and switch between them." I can barely hold unto one thought. I am going with this myth is BUSTED.

Smell is overrated

Teens would rather give up sense of smell rather than FB. This may be a bit fucked up but I agree with the teens. McCann Worldgroup polled 7,000 people between the ages of 16 and 30 in the U.S., the U.K., Spain, China, Brazil, India, Mexico, and several other countries to find that without technology, a majority of this group would feel isolated and out of the loop. Maybe because of my allergies I can't usually smell things anyway but I can always Facebook.

Rumor has it!

Restarting #100G8TESTCDS #16 Fleetwood Mac Rumors. 1 of the best EVER. Sad not in top 10. Damn you VH1. I Don’t Want To Know is the song!

Weirdly, tonight Glee is dedicating and episode to this CD that has been spinning in my iTunes for over a month since I got too busy at work. Also of interest is that today is when Stevie Nicks released her first new CD in 10 years. Guess waiting for stuff is worth it. Regardless, I love this CD and was once again exposed to it by my Momma. When she would sing to it though it sounded like "Jew can go jor own Vay." Ah memories.

Happy Birthday SUCKAS!

So Today is one of my favorite non-real holidays (aka I still have to go to work). The first being National Walk of Shame Day (3/18); St. Patty's (3/17); and National I Did WHAT day (11/1). I always play a nice little prank on my unsuspecting friends, foes, and psychos and this year is no different. This year I plotted ahead. When the great facebook profile migration of 2011 came my prankster voice woke up and said wouldn't it be funny to pull a facebook prank? Like hey, there is your birthday, Oprah says you shouldn't share that. What would happen if you just shifted it just a tad. Then lighting struck telling me to change it to April Fools. This entire time the only person I could tell was Laverne. Laverne would keep this a secret or else I would tell about the mysterious text messages we had been receiving from A (Never mind that is my TV life). I have been waiting patiently for this day and it is here.

Thank you all for contributing to it and I know have a birthday cake profile pic out of it! Over all a great day!

Friends Like These

Disk @EW voted #15 U2 Joshua Tree. My fav track? W/ or W/o u. Ross, I'm not playing your song. #100G8TESTCDS

This CD will always be the CD I stole from my sister to get back at her for something stupid. Regardless it always reminds me of Friends and being on a "break".

Joni's Blue Too

Disk @EW voted #14 Joni Mitchell - BLUE one of my fav CDs EVER. My fav track? A Case of You #100G8TESTCDS

This cd is what started my long tradition of falling for singer/songwriters. reviews of Jewel kept referencing this Joni person and I didn't know who he was. Thankfully My momma did. She should me her old records and away I went to Best Buy. A good friend also sent me the cd as an iTunes download years later. A CD that brings me two treasured memories.

The Who's Next

Disk @EW voted #13 The Who's. Who's Next Baba O'Riley my fav track. Tommy was a better CD. #100G8TESTCDS

Punch me in the face. I paid 9.99 for this CD and it was 7.00 too much. The tracks I like I like and the tracks I hate I hate. I wish Tommy was in this spot.

The list gets STONED

Disk @EW voted #12 Rolling Stones Exile on Main St. Shake Your Hips my fav track. Reminds me of a bad movie. #100G8TESTCDS

Finally, someone that isn't the Beatles. This is a newer disk to my collection because my Mom wasn't into the Stones. I didn't discover them until High School and they had a song covered on Buffy. Anything that reminds me of Buffy is a winner.

Beatles White Album

Disk @EW voted #11 Beatles White Album- I love the band but this is the 5th CD in the top 11. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da top song. #100G8TESTCDS

I think by the time I finish the top 20 I will be Beatles' out. Man their CDs are awesome but they dominate the list. I haven't even heard a single Elvis song.

Sgt Pepper!

Disk @EW voted #10 Beatles Sgt Peppers- Love Good Morning, Good morning mom use to sing it so it sticks w/me. #100G8TESTCDS

Love this CD. It is one of my Mom's favorites so all of the songs remind me of her and my picture of what she was like as a teenager.

Hanging w/Bobby Dylan #9

Disk @EW voted #9 Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde- Probably be stoned 4 this but 2 much Dylan for me at once. #100G8TESTCDS

Too much of a good thing. I like my doses of Bobby a song at a time. I guess we are just going to date and not go steady. This was the hardest CD for me to get through so far. Of course this is a Beatles day though.

Abbey Road - Need we say more?

Disk @EW voted #8 Beatles "Abbey Road"- My pick for best CD ever. The End being my fav off the CD. #100G8TESTCDS

OK, This CD is filled with nice little gems my favorite being the song "The End" which I got exposed to because of the canceled soap The City. They used it as their send off when they got canceled and it always sticks in my head. I miss it.

Stevie 1Der.

Disk @EW voted #7 Stevie Wonder "Songs in the key of life" - Sir Duke is my pick for top track. Surprised this was #7 though #100G8TESTCDS

So this is the first CD on the list that I have wanted to press next track and had to force myself to listen to. I like Stevie so I found it odd that I had that feeling. Also, sorry about the delay. Work and the Apartment search kept me super busy last week.

#6 Rubber Soul - The Hippy Flava Beatles

Disk @EW voted #6 Beatles "Rubber Soul"- Drive my Car is the best song. Come on Beatles own this list #100G8TESTCDS

A little late due to the great apt. hunt of 2011 but it is a great cd. Makes me happy the way cake does. I love how many Beatles cds I am listening to by force.

#5 Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced" aka the songs I didn't know the name of

Disk EW voted #5 Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced" - CD filled w/songs I never knew the name of. <3 Fire #100G8TESTCDS

Most of these songs I have heard via covers. There is a reason why. GREAT stuff on it! I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

#4 Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On"

Disk EW voted #4 Marvin Gaye "What's Going On" - Fave was Mercy Me. For A hookup CD it mentions religion a lot #100G8TESTCDS

#1. I thought Marvin Gaye was supposed to be sexy time music. Why is he always talking about religion?

#2. I only knew two songs from this - What's Going On (Thanks JT)and Mercy Mercy Me (from a failed Mickey Mouse Club Audition.

I don't know why but I did like the CD and would actually listen to it again.

EW CD #3 - Beach Boys

Disk EW voted #3 CD Beach Boys Pet Sounds - Didn't know most of this CD so it was different. Love Wouldn't It Be Nice #100G8TESTCDS

Ok this is starting to get tricky. I didn't expect to run into a CD that I had a) never purchased or B) never had listened to. I have a weird affection for the Beach Boys that comes from TV because oddly my parents didn't listen to them the way they did the Beatles. My extent of knowledge on the Boys is their greatest hits summer compilation and whatever has been on TV Soundtracks. Not only was it musically a new direction, but it was also a difficult work day so listening to a CD all day of music I didn't "love" was harder than normally because I wasn't in my office nor was I in the space to hear it. We Will give Uncle Jesse's favorite band another go later and see what sticks. My favorite song from the CD - the only one I know the words to - "Wouldn't it Be Nice". That and it reminds me of 50 First Dates one of the best movies EVER!

Disk 2 Nirvana Nevermind

Disk EW voted #2 CD Nirvana Nevermind - One of my fav CDS EVER. Come As You Are best track. #100G8TESTCDS

Remember When?

I use to blog? Yeah, I remember that too. To give me a project I will be blog-eeting my thoughts on the book: VH1 100 Greatest Albums. It's the small victories in life.
